Having just an iPad or smartphone will not cut it for all of your classes. Some courses need specific programs that either do not have an app equivalent or do not work well on mobile devices.
It is recommended to have a laptop, here is IT's New Computer Buying Guide to aid you in picking the best device to fit your academic needs! If you can not afford another device, you can always use the computers in the library and other computer labs on campus, more information found here.
Having an iPad or smartphone is great for checking on due dates, task management and researching for your classes, plus they have some great study tools to get you ready for you next exam.
