At Niagara University, all members of the university community share the responsibility for creating conditions that support academic integrity. To this end, course instructors may use TurnItIn to compare a student’s work with other written sources. It is important to note that TurnItIn renders a “similarity score,” which is not an identification of plagiarism. Rather, it is an indication that a student’s writing is similar to other published or unpublished texts, and the instructor must then verify the originality and authorship of that student’s submission. Student writing submissions in this course will be checked using TurnItIn. Any students who have questions or concerns about the use of TurnItIn should contact their professor at the beginning of the semester.
By remaining in this class, students agree to having their papers checked for similarity, authorship verification, and AI-generated content using TurnItIn. The submitted papers will be added to TurnItIn's database solely for plagiarism detection purposes, subject to TurnItIn's usage policy.
