Physical Books Step 3: Finding It on the Shelf

Scroll down to the section called Holding Details:

Now look under Status/Desc. If it says "Onloan," that means that someone else has borrowed the book and it's not available for now. You'll need to try looking at another book.

If it says "Available," then it's available to borrow, and you can proceed to the next steps.

Look at the letters and numbers under Call Number. This will tell you where to find the book on the shelf.

To find out where this call number is, go to the library's Materials Directory. Start at the homepage at https://library.niagara.edu , hover over "About", then click Materials Directory.

Find the call number of your book in the chart. In our example, our book's call number began with the letters BF. So we will find the book on the library's second floor.

If you have trouble locating the book, just ask a library staff member and we will be happy to help you!

Remember that you will need your student ID card to borrow materials.
