Self-Service Tutorials

What is a Registration Hold?

A registration hold is a block placed on a college student’s account that prevents them from registering for classes. This hold can be applied for

  • Unpaid fees
  • Not meeting with your academic advisor
  • Academic probation
  • Other incomplete requirements

These matters must be dealt with before you can successfully register for courses in Self-Service

Grades

Grading Scale:

A + = 4.0 A = 4.0 A- = 3.67
B+ = 3.33 B = 3.0 B- = 2.67
C+ = 2.33 C = 2.0 C- = 1.67
D + = 1.33 D = 1 D - =.67
  F = 0
P = Pass I = Incomplete W = Withdrawal
S = Satisfactory U = Unsatisfactory A = Audit

Graduation Requirements: You must attain an overall GPA of 2.0, as well as 2.0 in the major. Students in education, social work, and nursing must attain an overall and major GPA of 2.5.

Dean’s List: A student with a semester GPA (over at least 12 credit hours) of 3.25 is placed on the Dean’s List.

Incomplete

  • The grade I is used when the instructor is not prepared to give a definite mark for the term because of illness or another reason approved by the instructor.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to initiate removal of the incomplete, beginning with talking to the instructor, and must completed within one month.

FYI: Courses for which a student received I, W, N, S, U or R are not computed in the GPA.

What if I choose to repeat a course?

If you have taken a course that you have either passed or failed, you may repeat the course to try and get a higher grade. Once you have repeated a course and passed it, your first grade will be dropped from your GPA, and the new grade will replace it, whether or not that second grade was higher than the first.

For example, if you got a C in your first time in the course, and you retook it and got a B, the B would be the only grade recorded in your GPA. Conversely, if you got a C in your first time in the course, and you retook it and got a D, the D would be the only grade recorded.

More information can be found here.

What is Satisfactory Academic Progress?

Satisfactory Academic Progress makes students aware if they drop below the minimal GPA of 2.0 they must progress toward graduation to complete the necessary credit hours.
